Error with text message: Please try the following fixes in order. (1) do not watch in incognito……
This error is mostly observed if the viewer is watching the video in incognito mode on an Android browser or if they are trying to play videos in a non-updated and non-recommended browser. Please check and ensure the videos are being played in normal mode(non-incognito) in a recommended and updated browser. Below are the other possible suggestions for this issue.
1- Please check and ensure the 3 steps (Playing in normal mode, enabling Protected content, and Restart device) mentioned on the error message page have been followed by the viewer.
2- Usually this error can occur if the ‘Protected content’ was not enabled in the browser. Steps to enable it on an Android Chrome browser are given below.
- Go to Chrome and click on the 3 button toggle at the top right> Go to ‘Settings’ > Go to ‘Site settings’
- Go to the ‘Media’ section
- Go to ‘Protected content’
- Make sure that it is ticked as ‘allowed’.
3- Two other popular recommended browsers which support secure playback on Android devices are updated ‘Firefox’ & ‘Edge’. You can try them as well. Hence please review the above details, Let us know if the viewer observes issues with updated Firefox and Edge browsers as well.
If the video is playing well on Firefox but showing this error on other browsers like Chrome
If the videos are not playing on all browsers except Firefox then we suspect your site page editor/theme is removing the highlighted part -allow=”encrypted-media” from the Ifarme. The issue is being observed due to the integration error. Below is a detailed explanation and the solution to this issue.
Sample Iframe:
“<iframe src=”https://player.vdocipher.com/playerAssets/1.x/vdo/embed/index.html#otp=20160313versIND313AMlFYwHZm80vw6MLcSo64oDQMqPMNYh3L8w22zEEWjw5Bj&playbackInfo=eyJ2aWRlb0lkIjoiMDk4NDhkM2JkMTIyNDAwZTlmNWMyNTliOTE1OGQ1ODMifQ==” style=”border:0;height:360px;width:640px;max-width:100%” allowFullScreen=”true” allow=”encrypted-media”></iframe>”
For browsers like Edge, Google Chrome – Video Embedding needs a tag i.e. allow=”encrypted-media” (as highlighted in the sample iFrame above) which is mandatory for embedding and playing videos, or else we get the error (Please ALLOW from Chrome settings > Site settings > Protected Content).
While most 3rd party platforms/webpages we embed and publish our iframe as it is without any distortion, some platforms’ editor removes this highlighted part from the published iframe causing some issues.
whereas, For browsers like Firefox – there’s no such dependency on any such tag, and works well without it too. Your website video pages having this issue will also most probably work on Firefox.
Hence, kindly check the published iframe and ensure that allow=”encrypted-media” is not removed from the published page.
